"Just as in every memorable game, the highest level of our own creativity must be present to make the game totally compelling, as well as visually attractive," notes Martin. Upon entering Leonardo's workshop, players are immediately engulfed in the authentic atmosphere of the Renaissance: its music, architecture and ambience are all re-created for players to enjoy and to experience first-hand. Players must work their way through mind-bending puzzles, ferret out hidden objects, untangle complex mechanisms, and conquer many other obstacles that must be overcome throughout the game - all based on actual Da Vinci's concepts, manuscripts and inventions. Just few seconds in, you find yourself in Leonardo's library, wondering what could have happened to your master: did one of his legendary inventions somehow go haywire? Or are shadowy assassins from the Church responsible? And so, a quest to find the truth begins. Read on to discover our pick of the best.Set in the exact time and place where the world's greatest inventor lived and worked, the game takes you back in time to the city of Florence in the year 1506. We’ve yet to find another game that quite matches the brilliance of The Room, but there are many that come very close, and that we really enjoyed puzzling over. The fourth, called Old Sins, feels a lot more like the original game, centering around a creepy doll house that you’ll need to explore. The Room Two and The Room Three took the first game’s formula and broadened its scope, spreading its puzzles across various boxes (and other locked constructions) in multiple rooms, adopting more of the traditional room escape game style. Not only are the puzzles super-challenging but enormously satisfying to solve, they also lend themselves perfectly to the iPad’s touchscreen. The entire game is set on and within one intricate safe, whose surfaces are adorned by strange mechanisms and logic puzzles, behind which smaller, more challenging boxes lurk. For those of you who’ve yet to play The Room, let me fill you in.
